Firelands EMS is actively seeking Ohio‑certified Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs), EMT‑Basics, EMT‑Advanced providers, and Paramedics to join our team in delivering high‑quality emergency medical care to the communities we serve. We welcome individuals who are committed to service, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to a growing and increasingly busy EMS district.

Volunteer opportunities

Volunteers may be local to the Village of New London or reside elsewhere, as long as they are able to:

  • Cover scheduled on‑call shifts while responding from home or the station.
  • Provide additional staffing when second or third calls occur.
  • Commit to a minimum of 24 volunteer hours per month, which offers valuable hands‑on experience in a progressive, high‑volume EMS environment.

This structure allows volunteers to support the agency in a meaningful way while gaining real‑world EMS experience that strengthens their skills and professional development.

  • Free monthly continuing education, including hands‑on skills training and required certifications.
  • Free uniforms and state of the art emergency protective equipment for all active volunteers.

Part-Time (911)

Firelands EMS employ’s currently Ohio certified EMT-Basic’s, EMT-Advanced or EMT-Paramedics to fill vacant positions. While Firelands EMS normally hires from its Volunteers first, positions are available for external candidates for consideration as needed. Shifts are normally 12-hours or 24-hours and require on-station coverage during the paid shift.

Firelands EMS employs Ohio‑certified EMT‑Basics, EMT‑Advanced providers, and Paramedics to fill open positions within the district. While the agency prioritizes hiring from within its volunteer ranks—recognizing the value of individuals already familiar with the community and its operations—qualified external candidates are also considered when additional staffing is needed.
Shifts are typically structured as 12‑hour or 24‑hour assignments, and all paid personnel are required to provide on‑station coverage for the duration of their shift. This model ensures immediate response capability, consistent staffing, and reliable service to the district’s residents.
