Operator and contact
This website is operated by Firelands Ambulance Service District, Firelands EMS. You can reach us at chief@firelandsems.gov, +1-419-929-1487, 25 James Street, New London, OH 44851.
Information we collect
Information you send us through this site. This site has two forms. The contact form asks for your name, phone number, email address, and message. The online application for part-time and volunteer positions asks for your name, address, phone number, email address, whether you are 18 or older, your EMS or fire certifications, education, employment history, references, and a typed signature. It does not ask for your Social Security number or date of birth; those are collected only if you are hired.
What you submit is sent by email to the Chief of Firelands EMS at chief@firelandsems.gov and is used only to respond to you or to consider your application. It is not sold, shared with advertisers, or used for marketing. Applications are handled as personnel records under Ohio public-records and records-retention rules; contact messages are kept only as long as needed to respond.
Two things happen automatically whenever any website is loaded, and they happen here too:
- Server logs. Our web server records the request: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and your browser’s user-agent string. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure, and they are not combined with anything else or used to build a profile of you.
- Security and delivery data. Our content delivery network processes the same connection information to filter malicious traffic and serve pages quickly.
Cookies this site sets
We set no advertising, analytics, or preference cookies of our own. The cookies below are the ones actually placed when you load a page:
- __cf_bm — set by Cloudflare to tell human visitors from bots. Expires 30 minutes after the last request.
- cf_clearance — set by Cloudflare when a security challenge is passed, so the challenge is not repeated on every page.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works without them, though a security challenge may be shown more often.
Who else receives data when a page loads
Loading any page necessarily discloses your IP address and browser details to the services that deliver it. For this site those are:
- Cloudflare — content delivery and security. It processes the connection data described above on our behalf.
- Facebook — the Facebook page plugin on the home page loads scripts and sets cookies from facebook.com.
- Google Maps — the station map on the Contact page.
We do not sell or share personal information, and we run no advertising or cross-site tracking technology.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
This site does not track visitors across other websites, so there is nothing for a Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal to switch off. We honor those signals by never starting cross-site tracking in the first place.
Children under 13
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Access and deletion requests
Firelands Ambulance Service District does not meet the revenue or volume thresholds that make the state comprehensive privacy laws apply to it, and it holds no personal information about site visitors beyond the server logs described above. Even so, if you would like to know what we hold about you, or to ask us to delete it, write to us at the contact address above and we will respond.
Effective date and updates
This policy is effective 2026-09-05. If we change what the site collects — for example by adding a form, analytics, or an embedded video — we will update this page and change the effective date before the change goes live.
